I woke up this morning feeling as I used to feel every first day of school, excited and ready. Like most people this time of year, I made a list of the things I want in my life as well as the things I don’t. I decided that this year I would clean house of people, things and thoughts that hold negative energy. I might rework my list but here is my first draft:
- Let go of people that are negative and see life though dark color glasses. Those people who only get into my life to complaint, people that see problems not opportunities, believe everyone is out to get them and who judge others. If someone is looking for a rubbish bin to throw their garbage, make sure it is not into my mind.
- Throw away, gather and organize my house and life, Nothing takes away more energy than an untidy place full of things from the past that are not needed any more. One by one, take each paper, each souvenir and even each dream and choose what stays and what goes…but let it go
- Keep promises. I have the right to change my opinion, to apologize, to compensate, to renegotiate and to find another alternative towards a promise not kept; but that must not become a habit. The best way to avoid doing something I don’t want to do, is by saying NO from the beginning.
- Do what I truly enjoy. When possible, do away with or delegate those tasks I prefer not to do and dedicate my time to doing what I like best. I don’t suggest to run away from my responsibilities, but to be mindful, sometimes I can go on losing time on trivialities and without knowing I can abandon that which is really meaningful in life. I must make what I love my priority.
- Be respectful of me and my money. I have never lived above my means, I have tried to pay my bills on time but in the same way, I must collect from those who owe me or let them go from my life in case it is impossible to collect. I believe in giving and being generous but I need to start differentiating between being generous and being taken advantage of, for those that are not careful with what they owe me, get rid of them from my life.
- Stay Healthy. Give priority to my health, Meditate, walk, take a bath in the sea, do some exercise outdoors, listen to my body and eliminate toxins. Make an appointment with the doctor. Eat fresh, unprocessed & organic food when possible, work on prevention in order to avoid the crisis of a disease.
- Face toxic situations, from rescuing a friend or a relative, to tolerating negative actions from loved ones, take the necessary action. Resigning to a situation and feeling that I don’t have the control, will only drain my spirit. Fua! (Cuban expression ala Celia Cruz meaning, out of here!)
- Accept. It is not resignation, but nothing makes us lose more energy than resisting and fighting against a situation that cannot change. Deliver to the Universe and let it go.
- Forgive, let go of a situation that is causing pain, I choose to leave pain in my memory not my heart. Being connected to life and its love is the greatest source of energy, while fear, bitterness and anger are the most frequent blockers. I will focus on the present, living in the past or in the future will only drain the best out of my present.
- Gentle and grateful. Be gentle with myself, make “me” the most honest, loving and amazing relationship. In order to be the best I can be for anyone I must love myself first. Be gentle with myself because I am worth it.
— feeling great and excited, wishing everyone a happy 2014.
